On 4 February 2015, Lesotho launched the National Social Protection Strategy (NSPS). The strategy includes several social protection instruments and operation mechanisms such as Old Age pension, Child Grant programme, National Information System for Social Assistance, and so on.
The total cost of core social protection programmes is estimated between 3.92% and 7.8% of GDP.
The set of core SPIs would potentially reduce poverty headcount rate by 15% to 51.3%.
